Bates invented Durashocks technology as a way to answer the mail to military soldiers complaining about their feet after long duty days or extended patrols. Durashocks uses lightweight EVA construction, the same material used in high performance lightweight running shoes, to create a medium that would absorb a large amount of impact while being lightweight.
